🛫Taking part in healthcare innovation means contributing to tomorrow’s treatments. I’m pleased to share that I’ve recently joined Dolinnov through the Biolaunchpad program of Institut Imagine, a biotech contributing to the development of a breakthrough therapy for chronic pain. This experience gives me the opportunity to apply my scientific background while gaining hands-on exposure to strategic thinking and constraints specific to biotech companies. It’s a pleasure to work alongside Sam Papiernik and Dorian Blintz on this project. Many thanks to Grégoire Serra, CEO of Dolinnov, for his trust, and to Nicolas Doulet and Pauline Seiter for structuring and driving the BioLaunchpad program. What I took away from the Non-Opioid Pain Therapeutics Summit Pain drug development is very challenging. But thanks to a few big pharma players, such as Vertex, a new era of non-opioid painkillers is emerging. Three things stood out. 1️⃣ The field is shifting from global CNS drugs to targeted pain therapies, addressing pain at its source in peripheral sensory neurons. 👉 The DRG (dorsal root ganglion) is the hotspot. 2️⃣ Mechanism now matters more than the molecule and ion channels alone are not the solution. Sodium channels (Nav1.7, Nav1.8) remain heavily explored, but their limitations are now widely acknowledged. 👉 As emphasized by Clifford Woolf: “Reducing neuronal excitability is not the same as restoring normal neuronal function.” 3️⃣ Translation is the real bottleneck and everyone agrees on this now. As stated by John Markman: “Animal efficacy is not the problem. Translation is.” 👉 The new standards are clear: • Human DRG neurons • Patient-derived models • Early biomarkers (still the white whale of pain) On a personal note, I was genuinely happy to reconnect with friends and all innovators in the field. 🚀 Lancement de la promotion 2025 du BioLaunchpad de l’Institut Imagine ! Le BioLaunchpad est un programme dédié à la formation à l’entrepreneuriat et à l’accélération de projets de start-up healthtech à fort impact pour les patients. Il s’appuie sur une pédagogie « learning by doing », ancrée dans le concret et orientée projets. Pendant 3 mois d’immersion, les participantes et participants travaillent aux côtés des porteurs de projets, avec des sessions dédiées aux principaux enjeux de la création d’entreprise (formats individuels, collectifs, mises en situation), et l’accompagnement d’un coach expérimenté. L’objectif : construire un argumentaire solide et se préparer à un pitch investisseur en fin de parcours. Au-delà de l’apprentissage, le BioLaunchpad est aussi une opportunité d’ouverture à l’écosystème (rencontres, afterworks, échanges avec investisseurs, retours d’expérience d’entrepreneurs).
