At Clearpay, we’ve always welcomed regulation and we’re well on the way in our preparation for the 15 July 2026 launch date. The FCA's final rules will: ✅ Introduce proportionate affordability checks so customers only take commitments they can reasonably meet. ✅ Standardise how information is presented — so shoppers know exactly what they’re signing up for. ✅ Remove regulatory uncertainty so merchants and fintechs can innovate with confidence. Over the coming months, we’ll support both our customers and our merchant partners to ensure they’re fully prepared for the new rules. Block recently hosted a parliamentary reception at the House of Commons to launch The Entrepreneurship Revolution report - new research with Public First revealing the rapid transformation of the UK's entrepreneurial landscape and the vital role digital payment tools are playing in business success. Today's consumers demand flexibility and control in how they pay - and businesses that meet those expectations grow faster. Clearpay (Afterpay) enabled an additional £6.6bn in sales for UK merchants in 2024, reinforcing our role as a critical growth engine for UK businesses as consumer payment preferences evolve. 📊 Key research findings: * 10% of UK adults want to start a business in the next year - enough to nearly double the number of UK businesses * A 1% productivity uplift among SMEs could contribute £24.6bn annually to the UK economy * 47% of Clearpay merchants report increased sales, with 41% reaching more customers they couldn't access before * 32% of consumers use BNPL to manage monthly cash flow, making it a practical financial tool, not just a payment method At the launch, we heard from Luke Charters MP who spoke about the importance of digital tools for SMEs and Block CFO & COO Amrita Ahuja also delivered an address emphasising our purpose of economic empowerment and the need for innovation in how we support entrepreneurs.
