Researchers recently demonstrated how hyperspectral imaging combined with deep learning can accurately detect milk adulteration non-destructively — including additives such as starch, sugar, salt, and soymilk powder. In the study, the Specim FX10 hyperspectral camera was used to capture detailed spectral data across the VNIR range, enabling AI models to identify subtle compositional differences that are invisible to conventional RGB imaging. What makes the research especially interesting is that the models were also validated across different milk brands, highlighting the importance of robust spectral data for real-world food inspection applications. Studies like this demonstrate why hyperspectral imaging is becoming increasingly important for AI-driven quality and safety inspection.
