I’ve been friends with chef Aristotelis Megoulas for over 15 years. Ari, chef and owner of Pomodoro (link in comments) in Corfu, has a rare talent: letting ingredients speak through balance, not complexity. Efi Anastopoulou, sommelier at Vintage Wine Bar in Athens, does something similar with wine: translating deep knowledge into something people can actually connect with. So Christina Kakoulaki and I invited them over for dinner. No agenda. Just presence. Just togetherness. On the menu: 1. Fennel & orange salad with Neolea “For the Plate” EVOO 2. Pappardelle with ragù al bolognese (finished, of course, with EVOO) Ari and Efi had known of each other online. But it took a Saturday night and a shared meal to make that connection real. That’s why food matters to me. And why olive oil sits at the heart of our kitchen. My suggestion: invite a few people over to join your table. It’s not just about the food it’s about the effort. (And great EVOO helps so much it feels like cheating🙂) in a world more divided than ever, be the one who connects.
