And the very first one was installed in the United States 2018 – kicking off a new chapter in the evolution of AIMS® technology. From historical ZEISS microscopes 🔬 to today’s AIMS EUV systems, what may look like completely different instruments actually reflects one consistent mission: pushing the limits of optical precision. AIMS® (Aerial Image Measurement System) plays a crucial role in chip manufacturing: it analyzes photomasks under the same optical conditions as wafer scanners, allowing critical defects to be identified and evaluated before they impact production. When high-performance optics last longer, it's not only the system that benefits! In EUV lithography, collectors in the light source might get contaminated or damaged over time – a common behavior in such complex systems. With our refurbishment processes, many of these EUV collectors no longer need to be discarded, but can be prepared for reuse in the system.
