The audience at yesterday's Gaming lunch was broadly mixed. Some grew up with gaming, while others had never given it much thought. But those outside the gaming industry were convinced it had nothing to do with their job. That's the thinking we want to challenge. Gaming is the largest interactive entertainment category in the world. It's shaping culture, community, advertising, and technology in ways that matter to every part of a media business. You don't need to be a gamer to care about that. 🎮 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗚𝗣, our recently launched gaming incubator and venture program built with UnternehmerTUM and XPRENEURS, is how Burda becomes an active part of that future, not just an observer. The program backs early-stage gaming founders across content, platforms, and enabling technologies, from first prototype to investment readiness. We were also joined by Christian Heimerl and his welevel team, who walked us through 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿, their open-world survival and city-building game set in a procedurally generated medieval world, powered by AI and built on Unreal Engine 5. Think deep crafting, dynamic villagers with their own stories, and a world that plays out differently each time. 🌍 Christian also opened the floor to questions, which led to exactly the kind of exchange between seasoned gamers and complete newcomers we were hoping for, proving there are no wrong questions when the topic is this broad. Beyond our role as investors, we want everyone in our network to be part of this conversation. These lunches are the first step of making that happen, and we're already looking forward to the next one! 🍕 Christian Teichmann Josephine Lusch Kevin Hildebrandt Antoine Leboyer Christian Heimerl Paul Pohlmann Marie Witzorrek
