Today marks a big milestone: 15 years since technology first met urban mobility on Greek streets. 📱 It all started in 2011 with Taxibeat, an innovative idea born in Athens that proved something important: Greek talent doesn’t just participate in the global tech scene, it helps shape it 🚀 From Taxibeat → to Beat → to Freenow, this journey has become one of the standout success stories of the Greek tech ecosystem, culminating in the acquisition by Lyft and connecting millions of travelers across Europe and beyond. Over these 15 years, the journey has been… quite something: 🚕 billions of kilometers driven 🗺️ rides across the entire country 📍 from the northernmost regions to the islands of the Aegean & Ionian 📏 even a record-breaking ride of over 600 km (yes, really!) And through it all, one thing stayed the same: trust. 💬 As our General Manager for Greece, Aspasia Topalidou, shared: “This anniversary is not just a number. It is the reward of the trust we have built over the years with our partner drivers and passengers.” Of course, the media are spotlighting the journey 📰 but the real story is simple: Freenow = its people. We’re incredibly proud to announce that our campaign, The Stone Lifting Studio has been shortlisted for Creative Innovation at The Drum Awards for Marketing EMEA 2026! 🏆 Following a bold and humorous advertising campaign that revived the ancient Irish tradition of stone lifting, we partnered with FUEL to bring a unique in-person experience to life: Ireland’s first Stone Lifting Studio, located right in the heart of Dublin City 🪨💪🏼. By taking the "travelling stone" from the screen and turning it into a high-energy physical activation, we bridged the gap between raw heritage and modern fitness culture. Who brought the ball to kick-off? We did. ⚽😉 In partnership with the Hellenic Football Federation, Freenow by Lyft served as the Official Ball Carrier at the Greek Cup Betsson, delivering the match ball to the pitch with a custom remote-controlled taxi ride (first time ever in Greece!). Celebrating 15 years of taxi booking by app in Munich! Did you know that our drivers in Munich have collectively travelled more than 112 million kilometres – the equivalent of 146 trips to the moon and back? 🌙 Munich has grown with us. Today, nearly 140% more drivers are active on the platform than ten years ago, and many of those who started back then are still driving with us. Our data paints a clear picture of the city: 🔵 Most rides start in Maxvorstadt and end near the central station. 🔵 Theresienwiese is Munich's most popular tourist destination. 🔵 More than 80% of passengers are picked up within three minutes. And while the city moves, so do we: from cash payments to mostly cashless transactions, with a steadily growing share of electric cars today. A huge thank you to our incredible drivers, especially those who have been with us from the very beginning, as well as our partners and loyal riders for making this journey possible.
