Most errors in the OR are not about skill – but about interaction with technology. At Erbe, we focus on usability and ergonomic design in medical technology to better support healthcare professionals in complex environments. To strengthen the exchange around these topics, Erbe is co-organizing the first Medical Usability Symposium created to provide a dedicated platform for usability and human factors in medical technology. 📍 CUBEX ONE, Mannheim Medical Technology Campus 📅 June 9, 2026 The symposium brings together human factors experts, UX professionals and MedTech developers to discuss real-world challenges, share practical insights and connect across disciplines. Participation is open to everyone interested in usability and human factors in MedTech. 👉 Registration: https://lnkd.in/deMaWu9d In your opinion, which topics should be part of a medical usability conference?

175 years of history also means 175 years of development. A comparison between an old aerial image of our Tübingen site and a recent drone shot shows how much has changed over time. New buildings were added, existing ones expanded, and the site continuously adapted to new requirements. For us, growth has always been part of the journey. Not by leaving the past behind, but by building on it step by step. The transformation in Tübingen reflects what long term development can look like across generations. What change best represents the growth of your organization over the years? #175yearsErbe #TransformationinTuebingen #OldVsNew

🌍 175 Years of Erbe. Meet the People Behind Our Success As we continue celebrating 175 years of Erbe, we are proud to highlight the people who have shaped our journey over the years. Today, we’re introducing Yara, Marketing Specialist for the MEA region and Lebanon, who has been part of the Erbe family for 12 years. Yara shares what she particularly values about Erbe: “What I particularly value about Erbe is the deep sense of trust — trust in our technology, trust in our colleagues who support one another across borders, and trust in the long-term partnerships we build with passion and commitment. It’s this human side behind the innovation that makes me proud to be part of the Erbe family.” Her words reflect the foundation of our success: innovation built on trust, collaboration, and strong global relationships. Thank you, Yara, for 12 years of dedication and for embodying the spirit of the Erbe family. #175yearsErbe #TeamErbe #ErbeMEA

He recognized the potential to develop further what had already been established. When Christian Gottlieb Erbe took over the workshop from his father in 1882, he brought experience from across Europe and a clear focus on growth. At just 27, he strengthened the team and expanded technical expertise, driving the transformation from a traditional workshop into an emerging medical technology company. He broadened the portfolio to include induction equipment, microtomes, endoscopy lighting and ophthalmological instruments. Supported by established connections in Tübingen, Erbe gained visibility beyond its local roots, with products recognized internationally. After his unexpected death in 1907, his wife Pauline Erbe assumed responsibility. For 16 years, she led the company with determination, ensuring stability and continuity during a demanding period. Their combined efforts reflect a phase of development defined by progress and responsibility. #175yearsErbe #FamilyBusiness #MedicalInnovation

A breakthrough that changed endoscopy. In 1995, Erbe developed the first probe for Argon Plasma Coagulation in close collaboration with the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. What began as a new approach to coagulation quickly became a milestone in endoscopic treatment. APC made it possible to treat tissue precisely, safely and without direct contact. Over the years, the technology continued to evolve. Today, Erbe's FiAPC+ probe helps physicians perform APC procedures with even greater control and efficiency. 🎥 In this video, we look back at the development of APC and the innovation behind it. Which medical innovations do you think have changed patient care the most? #175yearsErbe #ArgonPlasmaCoagulation #Endoscopy This content contains information about Erbe products that may not be approved/cleared in certain countries. Most errors in the OR are not about skill. They are about interaction with technology. Healthcare professionals work under high pressure in complex environments with constant cognitive load. Typical pain points include: • Interfaces that do not match real workflows • Increasing complexity with limited training time • Poor ergonomics causing physical strain This leads to something critical: Less focus on the patient. More focus on the device. In the OR, every second and movement matters. This is where usability makes the difference. At Erbe, we are committed to designing intuitive, ergonomic technology that reduces cognitive and physical strain. To ensure this, various user-centered methods are used during the product development process like interviews, surveys, field observations and user testing. As Hendrik Homans, Human Factors Expert at Erbe, emphasizes: “In addition to functionality and price, ergonomics and a positive user experience are becoming increasingly important in medical devices.” This is why he is co-organizing the Medical Usability Symposium on June 9, 2026, in Mannheim, bringing together clinicians, engineers and human factors experts to bridge the gap between technology and real-world use. What to expect: Practical insights, real world use cases and exchange between physicians and experts, with speakers from TÜV Süd, Bayer AG, Siemens Healthineers and more. Our goal is to reduce complexity, improve usability and increase patient safety. Because technology should support you, not slow you down. If you are a healthcare professional, what are the biggest usability challenges you face in your daily work?
