#ArtxScience 🎗️ Zeit zu feiern! Gestern haben wir den Gewinner:innen des 10. Wettbewerbs für wissenschaftliche Bilder ihre Preise überreicht. Die Preisverleihung fand im Rahmen der Journées photographiques de Bienne | Bieler Fototage statt, wo die Ausstellung der prämierten Bilder bis am 31. Mai 2026 zu sehen ist. Irene Hediger, Jury-Mitglied der ersten vier Jahre, blickte auf zehn Jahre Bilderwettbewerb zurück. Thomas Werder Schläpfer, Co-Direktor des SNF, sprach mit den Forschenden über ihre Bilder und ihre Arbeit. 🙏 Ein grosses Dankeschön an "SZ" Sarah Zürcher, Direktorin der Bieler Fototage, sowie an alle Forschenden, die Jahr für Jahr mit ihren faszinierenden und oft überraschenden Bildern zum Wettbewerb beitragen. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 🎗️ Place à la fête ! Yesterday the winners of the 10th SNSF Scientific Image Competition received their prizes. The award ceremony took place at the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography, where the winning images will be on display until 31 May 2026. Irene Hediger, a jury member for the first four years, looked back on 10 years of the image competition. ℹ️❓The SNSF has updated its guidelines for research projects involving animals. The dedicated web page has also been revamped to provide transparent information on the subject. 🧑🔬 The new guidelines set out the responsibilities of researchers submitting or evaluating proposals for projects involving animals. They are accompanied by checklists to support scientists in this process. 📢 The new web page provides clearer and more structured information for the public about the SNSF’s stance on research projects involving animals and on its related principles and practices. It explains why animal research is essential, what laws and regulations apply, and what the SNSF’s commitments are. It also provides statistics and related articles. The #SNSF Foundation Council welcomes two new members: Anja Wyden Guelpa, who has many years of experience in politics, administration and innovation, and Frédéric Herman, Professor of Earth Surface Dynamics and outgoing Rector of the University of Lausanne. These new appointments to the Foundation Council strengthen the professional diversity and range of expertise of the SNSF’s strategic governing body. The Council is responsible for the SNSF’s long-term strategic orientation, supervises its governance, approves the budget and ensures that its funding mission is effectively fulfilled. Tobias Jan Kippenberg, full professor of physics and head of EPFL's Photonic Integrated Circuits and Quantum Measurements, has been awarded the Marcel Benoist Swiss Science Prize 2025 for his work in quantum optomechanics and the generation of optical frequency combs. 🔬🚀 Launch of the six new National Centres of Competence in #Research (#NCCRs) NCCRs sustainably strengthen research and #innovation in strategically important areas.
