Geometric accuracy in medical imaging is fundamental to enabling precision medicine — from neurosurgical planning to radiosurgery targeting. A new peer-reviewed study published in Physics in Medicine & Biology demonstrates that Synaptive Medical's Evry MR system, combined with a novel calibration method called PRECISE, achieves best in class geometric accuracy, results that are comparable to or better than the gold standard of CT. As demonstrated using five standard MRI protocol, PRECISE reduced image distortions by more than 3-fold compared to standard vendor correction — achieving average distortions below 0.06 mm and 95th percentile distortions below 0.11 mm across the imaging volume. Evry's head-specific 0.5T platform, combined with PRECISE, sets a new standard for MRI geometric accuracy — giving clinicians the confidence to plan and treat with the precision their patients require. It’s often said that the human brain is even more complex than outer space and is the "final frontier" of medicine. As our astronauts return home on Artemis II, pushing the boundaries of what we know beyond our planet, we are reminded that some of the most profound exploration today is happening right here on Earth. Today, April 8, we recognize the extraordinary neurosurgeons who navigate this frontier every day. With precision, resilience, and deep expertise, they operate at the limits of human knowledge — restoring function, preserving identity, and changing lives. At Synaptive Medical, we are proud to support this work. Our mission is to equip neurosurgeons with the tools, imaging, and insights they need to see more clearly, plan more precisely, and operate with confidence. To neurosurgeons around the world: thank you for your skill, your dedication, and your relentless pursuit of better outcomes for your patients. #WorldNeurosurgeonsDay #Neurosurgery #MedTech #HealthcareInnovation #Synaptive

In the April 2026 issue of Operative Neurosurgery, a new paper (Alms, Eseonu, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) demonstrates that approaches minimizing retraction are associated with better preservation of white matter tract integrity, which is measurable with quantitative research tools in Synaptive Medical's Modus Plan. Tractography is increasingly extending beyond planning into postoperative outcome validation and longitudinal tracking of structural connectivity. LINK TO PAPER: https://lnkd.in/eRUgggyB What was previously visual and subjective is becoming measurable and comparable. For those operating in and around eloquent pathways, this enables a different level of feedback for surgeons: not just where tracts are preoperatively, but how well they were preserved — and how patients recover over time. The human brain is the most complex structure in the known universe. When injury occurs, seeing the smallest details can change everything. March is Brain Injury Awareness Month (USA), a reminder that millions of people each year suffer traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and other neurological conditions that can alter lives in seconds. For neurologists and neurosurgeons, understanding what is happening inside the brain depends on one thing above all else: precision imaging. At Synaptive Medical, our mission is to give clinicians the clearest possible window into the brain. That is why we built the Evry MRI. Evry is designed specifically for neuro imaging and delivers the kind of detailed information physicians rely on to detect injury, understand pathology, and guide treatment decisions. But the Evry isn’t just about image quality: it also rethinks how MRI should work in modern healthcare environments: - No helium and no venting required — avoiding current global supply chain challenges and limiting construction costs - Small footprint and lightweight system design — no rigging and no reinforced flooring required - Flexible installation — enables MRI access in places traditional systems cannot go The images below were captured using the Evry MRI. They demonstrate the remarkable level of detail modern neuroimaging can reveal about a brain injury when technology is purpose-built for the brain. This Brain Injury Awareness Month, we recognize the patients, families, and clinicians working every day to understand and treat brain injury. Brain Injury Association of America. And at Synaptive Medical, we remain committed to building technologies that help them see further. The future of precision neuro-oncology is bigger than total resection: it’s about illuminating and treating what lies beyond the visible margin. Synaptive Medical is proud to see renowned neurosurgeon-scientist Dr. Costas Hadjipanayis advancing the state-of-the-art in image-guided neuro-oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, utilizing Synaptive Medical's Modus X robotic visualization platform with intraoperative photodynamic therapy from Hemerion Therapeutics. In a recently published technical case report in the Journal of Neuro-Oncology (Fluorescence‑guided surgery and intraoperative photodynamic therapy for the treatment of glioblastoma: a technical case report; Feb 2026) Dr. Hadjipanayis and colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center demonstrated the first use of a next-generation 5-ALA drug-device combination (Pentalafen®–Heliance®) for both fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) and intraoperative photodynamic therapy (PDT) in a patient with newly diagnosed glioblastoma as part of a Phase I/II clinical trial. The case: A 64-year-old woman presented with progressive headaches, visual field deficits, and cognitive changes. MRI revealed a heterogeneously enhancing temporo-occipital mass with edema and midline shift. Four hours before surgery, oral 5-ALA was administered. Using Synaptive's Modus X, a voice-controlled robotic-assisted exoscope and advanced stereotactic navigation system, the team performed fluorescence-guided gross total resection, followed by the Hemerion therapy. (Read full report below.)
