About us

Building on a strong tradition of caring and community support, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation (RCHF) was established in 1978 to raise funds for the hospital’s first CT Scanner. For more than thirty years, the mission of RCHF has been to raise money to help the hospital save lives, restore health and provide comfort to seriously injured and ill patients of all ages. Today, RCHF is an independent charitable organization that raises millions of dollars each year to fund major projects, priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education and innovation at RCH. Thousands of individuals, businesses, community groups and foundations in surrounding communities and across the region provide generous support to help RCHF achieve its vision — to inspire giving and grow funding so patients have access to the best in health care at Royal Columbian Hospital. • Today marks a historic moment for health care in British Columbia. We are thrilled to share that the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower at Royal Columbian Hospital will officially open on May 31, ushering in a new era of care for patients and families across our province. This transformational new tower will expand access to specialized critical care, including emergency, cardiac, trauma, neurosciences, intensive care and more, helping Royal Columbian Hospital continue its role as one of British Columbia’s leading centres for complex and life-saving care. The opening will happen in phases, with the emergency department, intensive care units, medical-surgical inpatient units, medical imaging, main entrance and parking facilities opening first on May 31. Additional areas, including obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, operating rooms and interventional suites, will open this fall as part of a carefully coordinated transition. To the thousands of donors who helped make this moment possible, thank you. Your generosity and belief in the future of care at Royal Columbian Hospital helped bring this remarkable new tower to life and will help shape care for generations to come. Together, we are opening the door to a new era of care at Royal Columbian Hospital. Read the province's news release here: https://loom.ly/N24d0qw

Fraser Health is proud to have co-led a multi-site Canadian clinical trial advancing care for critically ill patients. In collaboration with Simon Fraser University and partners across the country, including Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, the CLiCK trial examined how to reduce complications associated with central lines in adult ICU patients. The study, involving nearly 1,500 participants, demonstrated that a specialized catheter lock solution can help improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of additional treatments. Fraser Health played a central role—from study leadership to on-the-ground clinical research—supported by our Evaluation and Research Services team and clinical research units. This work was also made possible through the participation of patients and care teams at Royal Columbian, Surrey Memorial and Burnaby Hospitals. This study highlights how Fraser Health connects frontline care with rigorous research to drive continuous quality improvement and innovation across the health system. 🎥 In this clip, Dr. Steven Reynolds, ICU physician and study co-lead, walks through the study and explains why it matters for ICU care. #CanHealth

  • Congratulations to the researchers affiliated with Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation’s AIM Institute on the publication of their findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Led by teams from Royal Columbian Hospital and Simon Fraser University, the study could help improve care for critically ill patients in intensive care units worldwide. This important work reflects how questions that begin at the bedside can lead to evidence with the potential to shape care far beyond a single hospital. Congratulations to all involved in this achievement. Learn more: https://loom.ly/MYtB2vk
