  • During Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK (11–17 May), colleagues across Magellan’s Wrexham facility came together to support wellbeing, raise awareness, and make a positive impact in the community through a series of fundraising and wellness activities. 💚 Throughout the week, employees participated in: 👣 A Steps Challenge 🚴 An Indoor Bike Challenge 🍰 Charity talk sessions with Zoe from Advance Brighter Futures It was inspiring to see so many colleagues getting involved, encouraging one another, and helping foster important conversations around mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and supported their colleagues throughout the week. The teamwork and enthusiasm shown across the site was incredible. During the week Magellan also raised £760 for Advance Brighter Futures, supporting the important work the charity does within the local community. #Magellan30Years #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #Teamwork #CommunitySupport #MagellanAerospace

  • This week, Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga was pleased to host our annual Retirees’ Breakfast, bringing together former colleagues and longtime friends for a morning of connection, conversation, and celebration.   It was wonderful to welcome back so many familiar faces as retirees reminisced while looking through old photo albums, shared stories from throughout the years, and reconnected with former colleagues and friends. Moments like these are a meaningful reminder of the strong relationships and lasting legacy built within the Magellan community.   As a small token of appreciation, retirees also received a jar of honey from our on-site hive.   We sincerely thank all of our retirees who joined us and shared in this special tradition. Your legacy continues to be valued and appreciated, and we are proud to celebrate the people who helped shape Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga into what it is today. #Magellan30Years #Retirees #CompanyCulture #Friendship

Was great to show University of Manitoba President and Vice Chancellor, Michael Benarroch around Magellan Aerospace Limited today show him our STARLab researchers hard at work from the Price Faculty of Engineering on the LISSA spacecraft, part of the Redwing / LISSA mission with Defence Research and Development Canada Ottawa Research Centre (DRDC Ottawa) and Dstl. International cooperation for space domain awareness!

I recently toured Magellan Aerospace in Winnipeg and I was reminded how strong and forward‑looking our partnership with them truly is. Standing inside the Advanced Satellite Integration Facility with the flight model of the nanosatellite called “LISSA” (the Little Innovator in Space Situational Awareness) I felt immense pride.   Designed and built by our STARLab students, LISSA will launch later this year alongside Magellan’s Redwing satellite on the world’s first tandem mission for space situational awareness. This work, supported in part through Prairies Economic Development Canada I Développement économique Canada pour les Prairies and in collaboration with Defence Research Development Canada and the UK, strengthens Canada’s security and sustainability in space. Thank you to Ron Drepaul for hosting us and for the thoughtful conversations about the future of aerospace in Manitoba.   Hearing directly from our students about how their education is shaping real-world innovation was a highlight. Their work—and the leadership of Professor Philip Ferguson, our Magellan Industrial Research Chair—is advancing Manitoba’s defence and aerospace sector.   If you’d like to learn more about Phil’s work and the future of space innovation in Manitoba, I recently spoke with him on my podcast “What’s the Big Idea?” https://lnkd.in/enKgMFp2

  • 🍳 🥓 Today at Magellan’s Winnipeg facility, more than 90 retirees were warmly welcomed back to the plant for the 18th Annual Retiree Breakfast! It was an amazing morning of catching up with friends and colleagues over a delicious hot breakfast. The room was loud with laughter and lively conversations and Magellan’s General Manager, Ron Drepaul also took a moment to share all the recent company news. The tradition of Magellan’s annual retiree breakfast began in 2005, on the company’s 75th anniversary and is now a much-anticipated annual event. Here's to the lasting relationships forged over the years of working together, and to the enduring spirit that continues to bring us together, year after year. Looking forward to many more gatherings in the future! #Magellan30Years #Retirees

  • Magellan at 30: Spotlight on Wrexham Magellan's Wrexham division reflects decades of excellence in advanced manufacturing and aerospace innovation.   Based in Wrexham, this is a key site within Magellan’s operations in European. Formerly known as Trefn Engineering, the facility has a long-standing heritage in aerospace manufacturing and industrial engineering.   The original site was built on the former Llay Main Colliery, which closed in 1966. When the estate first opened, the original Trefn site occupied a relatively small unit, but the company’s growing success soon enabled the construction of a new facility. The current building is now approximately double the size of the original structure.   Magellan’s presence in Wrexham is rooted in a strong legacy of aerospace and industrial manufacturing in North Wales. The site became part of Magellan following the company’s formation in 1996 and subsequent UK expansion from the Bournemouth division, bringing together established capabilities under a global organization.   During his tenure, Mr. Pinson oversaw significant expansion of the business. He acquired the former Manor Transport site adjacent to the existing structures facility and developed what is now the current treatments plant. His next acquisition was the former DHD Engineering site, which today forms the Magellan assembly facility.   Over the years, the Wrexham facility has developed into a centre of excellence for surface treatment and coatings, specializing in advanced processes that protect and enhance critical aerospace components. The site plays a vital role in supporting major OEM programs, working with industry leaders such as Airbus and Boeing. Wrexham’s roots as Trefn Engineering reflect decades of engineering excellence prior to becoming part of Magellan’s UK expansion in the early 2000s. When Phil Underwood joined the business, Mr. Pinson sold the group to Compass Engineering. The company was later acquired by a venture capital group led by Mayflower, before eventually becoming part of Magellan Aerospace.   Today, the Wrexham division stands as one of Magellan’s cornerstone facilities supported by a highly experienced workforce and strong operational capability.   Fun Fact – Did You Know? The site’s history stretches back well before Magellan, combining the legacy expertise of Trefn Engineering with modern aerospace innovation. Many employees at the facility have dedicated decades of service, helping preserve the knowledge, craftsmanship, and culture that continue to define the Wrexham operation today. #Magellan30Years
