Last week, JTS Consulting was proud to be a sponsor of the 2026 BCIT Student Innovation Challenge. We believe in investing in the people and ideas that will shape the world our children and our children's children will live in. Events like this one are exactly where that investment begins. Watching the next generation of problem-solvers pitch bold, ambitious ideas reminded us of why this work matters. These students are not just thinking about today. They are already imagining the systems, communities, and solutions that future generations will rely on. Our COO, Dr Theresa Eriksson, had the honor of serving as a pitch round judge. Sitting across from that level of drive and curiosity was genuinely inspiring. The talent coming out of BCIT's applied research community gives us real confidence in what lies ahead. Congratulations to all the participants, and to BCIT Applied Research & Innovation for creating a space where the next generation can bring their best ideas forward. We are proud to support the people who are building the future, and we cannot wait to see what they do next. #SmartInfrastructure #Innovation #Ecosystem #StudentInnovation #CommunityImpact #FutureLeaders

Strong governance. Smart people. Sustainable AI outcomes. As AI adoption accelerates, the focus is beyond the technology, what really drives outcomes is clarity, accountability, and sustainable implementation. At JTS, we wrapped up a great session on AI Compliance and Governance last week with a fantastic group of professionals eager to understand how to use AI responsibly, while unlocking real business value. During the session, we explored: • Practical compliance guardrails for everyday AI use • Protecting sensitive data and managing regulatory risk • Clear escalation triggers when AI use requires review • How structured governance supports confident, responsible adoption What stood out most was the thoughtful dialogue around real-world scenarios, reinforcing that compliance and governance aren’t barriers to innovation, but the foundation for it. We are excited to continue building a strong foundation for confident, compliant, and responsible AI use. How are you approaching AI governance and responsible adoption? If these conversations are already underway, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect and exchange insights. Let’s keep the momentum going! #AI #Compliance #Governance #ResponsibleAI #DigitalTransformation #JTSConsulting #PeoplePowered #SmartInfrastructure

When the right people come together, meaningful work follows. Last week’s in-person JTS Soiree reminded us what strong relationships can build. The strength and depth of the JTS ecosystem was on full display: long-standing and new clients, current partners, consultants we’ve worked alongside for well over a decade, and some we hope to welcome into the fold. Within minutes, the room was humming. The conversation was natural, focused, and grounded in a shared commitment to delivering better infrastructure programs through strong relationships. What stood out most was how seamless it felt. Conversations picked up where they left off and new connections formed easily. Ideas flowed and remained centered on how we continue to elevate delivery and support our clients in building the infrastructure our communities rely on. To everyone who joined, thank you for enriching this ecosystem committed to delivering better outcomes together. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to bring this group back together.

Canada’s infrastructure environment is placing accelerating demands on how projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered. For teams responsible for turning policy direction into built outcomes, the question is increasingly how data and digital tools can be used in day-to-day decision-making, not as standalone initiatives. Digital twins are an important part of that practical conversation in British Columbia, across Canada, and beyond. At JTS, much of our work involves embedding alongside owners, utilities, and delivery teams to help integrate digital tools into real programs, from early planning through execution. That context shapes how we think about digital twins, not as an end in themselves, but as a way to improve coordination, manage risk, and support delivery across complex infrastructure environments. Recently, Theresa "Tess" Eriksson, COO and SVP of Service Delivery at JTS, attended an event in Vancouver marking the launch of a new Digital Twin paper, alongside an engaged audience of public and private sector leaders. The discussion focused on what it takes to move digital twins from pilots and proofs of concept into approaches that meaningfully support project delivery. Key takeaways from the discussion included: • Digital twins create the most value when they are tied directly to real decisions and delivery challenges, not treated as standalone visualizations. • Technology and visualization are only the starting point. Governance, data quality, and integration into everyday workflows ultimately determine whether digital twins are useful in practice. • Adoption remains the biggest hurdle. Hesitation to invest upfront often leads to higher downstream costs, as teams revert to reactive decision-making without realizing the long-term benefits digital twins can deliver. Thank you to Seequent and Bentley Systems for hosting and for inviting us to the discussion, and to the Future of Infrastructure Group for convening a thoughtful and timely conversation. JTS is staying closely engaged in both the conversation and the delivery, working alongside partners to put digital tools to work on real infrastructure programs. If you’re exploring how approaches like digital twins can support better outcomes, we’d love to continue the conversation. #DigitalTwins #SmartInfrastructure #Infrastructure #ManagementConsulting #DigitalTransformation

We are excited to welcome Marianne Divjak as our new Vice President of People Ecosystem, joining us from Calgary with a people-first leadership focus that fits right at the heart of JTS. Marianne brings a career dedicated to shaping strong teams and thriving cultures. She has led people strategy and operational excellence across multiple industries, helping organizations align people, processes, and purpose in ways that support sustainable growth. Her work has centered on diagnosing organizational needs, strengthening collaboration, and creating systems where people feel valued, connected, and empowered to do their best work. That mix of energy, curiosity, and joy is something she brings to her work every day. We are thrilled to welcome Marianne as a central part of our JTS ecosystem! Recently, JTS had the opportunity to curate a panel at the Canada's Rural and Remote Broadband Community (CRRBC) conference in Kelowna. The session, “Breaking Ground with Digital Twins: Unlocking Data to Build Smarter, Faster, Safer” brought together an outstanding group of voices including our own Theresa "Tess" Eriksson as moderator with panelists Jacqueline Spray (BC Hydro), David Pickett (Pardal Ventures), and Jennifer Refvik Querin (JTS Consulting). The discussion explored how digital twin thinking can help communities plan and coordinate infrastructure in smarter, faster, and safer ways. A few themes stood out: • Digital twin thinking is about people, process, and place, not just technology. • Rural and remote communities are often leading the way with adaptable, scalable digital approaches. • Training, trust, and data literacy are essential for turning information into better decisions. • Shared data environments improve coordination and help identify conflicts long before construction begins. These ideas highlight the growing importance of how we manage and share information, and how it will shape the way Canada plans, builds, and sustains the systems that support our communities.
