Updates

  • Today marks the start of our #MightyMay campaign and this year marks an important milestone. After 38 years of support, we are on track to surpass $1 million raised in total by employees since the campaign began. To commemorate this milestone our CEO Jason McDaniel and members of our executive team Jaci Edgeworth Chris Tupper visited BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver. The visit offered a meaningful look at the impact and the difference made through the generosity and dedication of our employee volunteers and donors. It was an opportunity to thank and recognize the time, care, and commitment our people have shown in support of BC Children’s Hospital over many years. Behind these numbers are real children, real families, and real stories. This May, we’re proud to continue supporting the children and families who depend on BC Children’s Hospital, and to stand alongside our employees who make this impact possible. 💛 #MightyMay #CommunitySupport #PurposeDrivenWork

  • Last week, our CEO Jason McDaniel visited the Trail & District Chamber of Commerce to discuss how we’re modernizing and improving digital services. Changes that can make a meaningful difference for people living in remote communities. We know accessing in‑person services can mean long drives, time off work, and other barriers, which is why we continue to invest in digital solutions like My ICBC, our new online customer portal that brings 23 services together in one convenient place, making it easier for customers to get what they need, wherever they live. We’re also continuing our commitment to road safety across the region. Since 2020, we’ve invested approximately $90,000 in eight road improvement projects throughout the Kootenays, including one in Trail. The intersection improvements at Hillside and Hazelwood Drive, featuring a new crosswalk, are helping make the area safer for both pedestrians and drivers. We were also proud to support the Kootenay Brain Injury Association, Arlo Marino, through a $10,000 Community Grant to help empower adults and families living with the effects of acquired brain injuries to improve quality of life, increase independence, and strengthen community involvement. Thank you to our partners Erika Krest, Dan Ashman, and the New Car Dealers Association of BC for being part of an important conversation about service, safety, and community support across the region. #ICBC #MyICBC #RoadImprovementProgram

  • We recently welcomed 70+ new employees with less than one year of tenure to our New Hire Networking Event at our Head Office. The event created space to connect, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships across the organization. The day was filled with energy, collaboration, great conversations and a dynamic networking session to foster community and cross‑team connections. New employees also had the opportunity to engage directly with leadership during a Q&A session with Gary Eastwood, Jaci Edgeworth, and Dorothy Wong, gaining valuable insights and perspectives. The enthusiasm and talent of this group were truly inspiring, and we’re excited to see the impact they’ll make!  #ICBC #EmployeeExperience #LIfeAtICBC #WorkplaceCulture

  • Our Chief Enhanced Care Officer, Perry Strauss, recently attended the Registered Massage Therapists' Association of British Columbia conference, where he spoke about our Enhanced Care journey and the importance of working closely with health care practitioner partners to achieve the best outcomes for people across our province. When we began our journey with Enhanced Care five years ago, we knew success depended on true partnership with the health care community. To support this, we established three advisory groups representing disability advocacy organizations and health care practitioner associations across B.C. These groups provide invaluable insight into how we can continuously improve the experience for our customers. Much of what we’ve learned over the past five years has come from members of the RMT community. Their feedback has helped shape how we deliver Enhanced Care benefits and programs so they can better meet the needs of communities across B.C. Thank you for your feedback, insights, suggestions, and continued collaboration! #ICBC #EnhancedCare #HealthCarePartners #RMT

  • Our CEO Jason McDaniel recently joined a roundtable with the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade, alongside business leaders Joslyn Young, Rory M Morgan, and Peter Heppner, to discuss affordability, mobility, and how we can collectively prepare for the future. Surrey is one of the fastest‑growing cities in B.C. and Canada, and that growth comes with responsibility. We’re supporting a growing population by expanding services where they’re needed most including a new ICBC driver licensing location and a dedicated road test facility in Guildford, Surrey, opened in 2023. As B.C. grows, mobility is changing. We’re seeing more congestion, more vulnerable road users, and new transportation modes. That’s why we’re partnering with municipalities, sharing crash data and research, and investing over $4 million in nearly 100 road improvement projects across Surrey and White Rock. The roundtable also sparked meaningful discussion around affordability, including how Enhanced Care has helped keep Basic insurance rates stable for seven consecutive years. Thank you to the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade, and everyone for the thoughtful discussion. Collaboration like this is essential as we work together to support growing communities and a changing transportation landscape. #RoadImprovementProgram #EnhancedCare #ICBC #Affordibility

  • Team #ICBC was proud to take part in Vancouver Sun Run this past weekend, and we’re pleased to share that we placed first once again in the Government category. This result reflects the strong performances of our top runners and the collective effort of everyone who participated.    We were also excited to be recognized as a top 10 team by size this year. Over the past three years, participation has grown steadily from fewer than 100 to more than 200 employees, along with their family and friends, highlighting the engagement, enthusiasm, and strong sense of community in ICBC.    Thank you to everyone who showed up and cheered us on!

  • We were pleased to be at the Skills Canada BC provincial competition, where some of the province’s top trades students showcased their skills by competing in hands‑on, real‑world challenges. It’s inspiring to see such talent on display, with winners moving on to represent B.C. at the national championships. Our team had the opportunity to connect with students to share more about our investment of up to $13.3 million over the next four years through our Labour, Education, Training and Safety program to strengthen B.C.’s collision repair industry. These investments will expand training opportunities and help support the next generation of skilled workers across the province and to talk about the importance of road safety especially when driving to and for work. Events like Skills Canada BC highlight the talent, dedication, and potential of young people entering the trades, and reinforce why investing in skills, safety, and training today matters for the future. #SkilledTrades #LETS

  • Why are car repair times getting longer? Across B.C., labour shortages in the collision repair industry are making it harder to keep up with growing demand. Repair facilities are facing an increasing demand for repairs, while fewer trained professionals are choosing to enter the field. As a result, there are longer repair wait times adding pressure on businesses. To help address this challenge, we’re investing up to $13.3 million over the next four years through our Labour, Education, Training and Safety program to strengthen B.C.’s collision repair industry. These grants will expand training opportunities and support the next generation of skilled workers, with up to $56,500 available per apprenticeship to help employers cover a substantial portion of training costs. By investing in people, we’re helping build a stronger, more resilient collision repair industry across the province. • Our Chief Enhanced Care Officer Perry Strauss, spoke at the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture annual conference, connecting with our healthcare partners about how we can continue to improve collaboration throughout a customer’s recovery journey. Feedback from healthcare practitioners is important in shaping our approach with #EnhancedCare. Our goal is to make it easier and more effective for customers and practitioners to work together towards recovery. These conversations are an important step in ensuring that changes are beneficial for both practitioners and the customers they support. Thank you to the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture and to all healthcare partners who continue to share their insights and work alongside us to improve recovery experiences for customers across B.C. #ICBC #EnhancedCare #HealthCare
