Helping fintech and finance teams align their GTM systems to improve conversion and growth outcomes.

About us

Clueless Monk in its current avatar started because we noticed a pattern. Incredible financial products and services, built by brilliant teams, dying on the vine because they couldn't explain why a buyer should care. We have spent years with lean startup builders and legacy business houses as they built these massive engines of growth. But like any other engine, they sometimes develop issues. That's where superficial consulting or generic agency input ends up creating a solution that becomes another problem in itself. That's when we realized that the problem is not content, or a CRM, or some paid ads strategy. It is coherence. Dedicated internal teams giving their 100% often start moving in different directions under the pressure of growth and speed. That's why we transitioned from a marketing agency to an embedded GTM operating layer. Because finance founders don't need another generic marketing agency. They need someone who understands regulatory constraints, market dynamics, and financial rails, and can devise a GTM strategy with all that in mind. But we didn't stop at just giving advice. Being operators, we like to get our hands dirty. We work in the trenches with your teams, bringing in the technological and cultural change needed to help their GTM engines run at full speed. We are that operating layer today. Folks who step in quietly, untangle the mess, build a system, and step back.

Let’s talk about marketing budgets in finance for 2026. Not the Excel-sheet version. The real version. The one finance teams quietly panic about in November and pretend to “finalize” in December. Here’s the uncomfortable truth: most finance firms still build their budgets from a playbook created in 2018. Funnels, impressions, MQLs, “brand awareness”. Basically all the things your actual buyer couldn’t care less about. Finance doesn’t buy that way. They buy slowly, carefully, through reputation, domain fluency, compliance comfort, and the small matter of… trust. And this is exactly why we built this report. It cuts the noise and gets to what actually moves revenue for finance companies: trust-building assets, credibility loops, partnerships, and research-backed content that speaks the language your buyers use when they’re not on LinkedIn. A few quick things that stood out while writing it: • Finance buyers reward maturity, not speed. • Relationship channels are hitting their highest ROI in almost a decade. • Overfunding digital ads is still the most common mistake. • AI isn’t a magic wand. It’s only useful when it replaces something slow and low-value, not when you “add it because others added it.” • And yes, 2026 will be the year where authority becomes your strongest lead engine. The goal of this playbook wasn’t to make marketing look complicated. It was to make sure your budget actually reflects how finance organizations make decisions, not how Twitter thinks they do. If you’re drafting your 2026 plan and want something that cuts through noise and gets straight to what works for finance teams, this will help. Happy budgeting!
