  • A great experience for the CBN team at ID4Africa this year. It was a valuable opportunity to reconnect with partners, build new relationships, and learn from conversations across the identity community. Progress in this space depends on people working together, sharing perspectives, learning from one another, and building identity systems they can trust. From our team who was there: thank you for the conversations, connections, and shared commitment to building identity systems that are secure, reliable, and built for the long term.

  • CBN is proud to announce that, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, we have won a 2026 International Card Manufacturers Association — ICMA Élan Award of Excellence for the new South Carolina under-21 Identification Card. This recognition, naming the card’s security and design as “Best ID Card” of the year, also marks CBN’s sixth consecutive Élan Award win in the category. This recognition is a testament to the work done at the SCDMV and our CBN team’s consistent excellence in secure card design and manufacturing. This award-winning under-21 Identification Card, introduced by SCDMV last year, features a security-forward, citizen-centric design proudly showcasing South Carolina’s iconic imagery, from the Statehouse to the Loggerhead Turtle. The card is built on a 100% laser-engraved polycarbonate body layered with 40+ advanced security features integrated within, making it the most secure credential in the state’s history. Congratulations to our partners at SCDMV on this achievement as their U-21 ID joins the CBN collection of recent award-winning cards. This award highlights what strong collaboration can accomplish. Together, we have delivered a state-of-the-art credential that South Carolinians can carry with pride and confidence. #SecureID #Innovation #TeamCBN #AwardWinners #SouthCarolina #ICMAAwards

It’s been great to connect with policymakers, peers, and partners, and to hear different perspectives on the real‑world challenges and opportunities shaping currency systems around the world. • Some of the biggest security failures don’t happen because teams lack tools or expertise; they happen when decisions get hard.   At #RSAC 2026, CBN's John Duffy, who’s spent his career inside complex, high‑stakes security environments, will break down five repeatable decision failures that quietly exist inside even the most mature security programs.   This session isn’t about another tech stack or control checklist. It’s about how teams actually make decisions when it matters most, and where governance, culture, and hesitation derail otherwise strong programs.   You’ll walk away with practical fixes and a team diagnostic you can use Monday morning to see where your program really stands.   Fun fact: the guitar instrumental in this video? That’s John, too. RSAC Conference

  • Earlier this week, CBN’s CEO, Marilou Robinson Arends, took part in KPMG Canada's International Women’s Day 2026 panel, “Give To Gain.”   The conversation focused on something simple but powerful: when we support others by sharing our time, experience, and opportunities, everyone benefits. It was great to hear different perspectives and learn alongside such a thoughtful group of leaders.   Events like this matter now more than ever. Supporting women in leadership helps build stronger teams, encourages new ideas, and creates healthier, more resilient organizations for the future.   Thank you, KPMG, for bringing people together and for continuing to lead these important conversations.

We celebrated a wonderful KPMG Canada International Women's Day event for our National Capital Region yesterday in our Ottawa office. We had an excellent room full of influential, powerful, successful women executives from across the NCR, from small and medium businesses, large businesses, across many industry sectors including Real Estate and Construction, Technology, Financial, Aeropsace and Defence, MUSH, and the Government. A huge thank you to our wonderful panel, of Marilou Robinson Arends of Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited, and Vidya ShankarNarayan of Treasury Board Secretariat | Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor, and Sueling Ching of the Ottawa Board of Trade and Daniel Thiruganaratnapathy, MBA of RBC. The panel was engaging and provided many thought provoking and transparent and vulnerable answers to our key questions from our hosts and moderators Laura Tippett and Jag Sangha-Gosal. Our room was lit up again by our key note speaker, Katie Faloon-Drew, MSc who always brings her passion and energy, and she helped again to make our event a huge success. Thanks to the 100+ women who came and helped us continue to make the NCR a fantastic business community, where we help each other capitalize on our opportunities and we helped each other address our challenges. You get results out of the effort you put in, and you "Give to Gain"
