We are celebrating our first building in Australia to be formally recognised under our global BGIS Blue Zone Buildings™ program. The Caroline Chisholm Centre is an A-grade, 5.5-star energy rated office building located in Canberra, owned by the Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust and managed by Frasers Property Australia. Since 2007 BGIS has provided integrated facilities management services through a contract led by Brian Saltmarsh, Account Manager, as well as energy and project advisory services. “Attaining this recognition is a commendable achievement for Brian and his team. They worked diligently to introduce all the initiatives over the past year,” said Michelle Dixon BA LLB GAICD, Managing Director, Client Services. “We were also very fortunate to have the full support of our clients throughout the process.” Representatives from Frasers Property Australia, the Tenant organisation and BGIS met to recognise the achievement, as well as install a plaque in the building foyer. To qualify for recognition the building met seven core elements of the program, by achieving regular HVAC maintenance routines, C-Polar, indoor air quality, leak detection monitoring, annual drinking water testing, legionella condition assessment and no VOC cleaning products. The BGIS Blue Zone Buildings™ program helps our clients evaluate their portfolios and operationalise healthy and sustainable building solutions. The program looks at areas such as indoor air quality, water, sustainable environmental practices, and employee well-being and engagement. We spend 90% of our time indoors, a third of this time is at work. We are spending more time indoors than ever before. The quality of the workplace experience may contribute to the health and wellbeing of the workers. Factors such as indoor air quality, exposure to chemicals in cleaning products, temperature levels, lighting levels and noise levels may influence physical and mental wellbeing. Members of our Newmarket community enjoyed a warm, nourishing dinner recently thanks to Inn from the Cold, a local charitable organization that supports individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming unhoused in York Region. Over 100 people were served a home-cooked meal at Inn from the Cold’s shelter, with our People & Culture team once again sponsoring and volunteering their time to prepare it. It was a deeply rewarding experience for the volunteers and guests alike. Congratulations to Leigh Pearson, Managing Director at BGIS, on receiving the Connex Foundation Distinguished Charitable Service Award. Leigh was recognized for her long-standing commitment to the Connex Foundation, where she served as Vice Chair and as a founding board member, helping to shape the Foundation’s focus on community impact.
