🚍✨ More than 80 participants gathered at the final Annual Event of the SUM Project at Transport Research Arena (TRA) Budapest, celebrating the achievements and impact of the project as it approaches its conclusion! The event highlighted how cities across Europe are moving from mobility pilots to real implementation, with a strong focus on sustainable, integrated, and citizen-centred transport solutions 🌍 A major part of the event was dedicated to presentations from four of the project’s Living Labs, which shared their key work, lessons learned, and findings from real-life implementations across Europe. The audience engaged in very insightful discussions around user group types, the economic viability of shared mobility services, and collaboration between mobility providers 🤝 One of the key highlights was the project’s Open Data Platform (https://lnkd.in/eVtKJzAz), which will remain available for cities interested in reusing SUM’s results and tools, and create their own profiles. Together with the datasets published on Zenodo, this creates a valuable legacy for future research, planning, and mobility innovation. ✨ “The project closes. The results stay.” The event also showcased how SUM’s results are built to last: 🔹 Open access KPIs and analytical insights from 9 Living Labs 🔹 Policy recommendations shared across 100+ cities through the POLIS network 🔹 Commercial and reusable mobility tools already continuing beyond the project 🔹 A scalable architecture and APIs ready for cities across Europe 🔹 A long-term vision reaching hundreds of European cities in the coming decade A strong takeaway from the event was clear: collaboration between cities, providers, researchers, and local communities is essential for shaping the future of urban mobility 🌟 Thank you to all partners, speakers, and participants for making this final Annual Event such an inspiring and impactful exchange! 🙌 #SUM #SharedMobility #SustainableMobility #SUMPs #Electrification #Ondemand Iuliia Skorykova Anaïs B. #ITS_Istanbul2026 🌟 Insights from SIS 37 Shared mobility is here to stay and cities are making real progress in turning it into public value At the ITS Congress Istanbul, our Special Interest Session (SIS 37) focused on practical, on-the-ground experiences from cities working to better manage and integrate shared mobility services. The conversation went beyond concepts, highlighting what is actually working, what isn’t, and what needs to change. Cities and practitioners shared honest reflections, supported by concrete tools and approaches designed to improve decision-making. Some key insights emerged: 🟢 Adaptability is essential - local context shapes outcomes, so policies must remain flexible 🟢 Data needs structure - collecting data is not enough, cities need accessible formats and clear methodologies to turn it into actionable evidence 🟢 Funding is evolving - outcome-based procurement is creating new ways to align services with public goals From practice: - Hamburg showed how MaaS integration (MAX app, mobility stations) builds trust through perceived availability - UK examples highlighted mobility hubs, stakeholder engagement, and new monitoring tools - Open data platforms are helping cities compare, learn, and assess what really works (check https://lnkd.in/eVtKJzAz) - Experimentation and iterative approaches are reshaping procurement and service design Biggest challenges? Scaling pilots, coordinating stakeholders, and building trust to share data. 👁️🗨️ The key message: aligning policy, data, and funding is what turns shared mobility into real impact. 👏 Thank you to the amazing speakers for the interesting session Fernando Gramaglia Andrade Tobias Brzoskowski Chris Brown Melike Nur Ülsever The conversation continues, follow along! #SUM #SUMPs CIVITAS Initiative ITS Congresses #Multimodal #NewSharedMobility Iuliia Skorykova Anaïs B.
