Financial crime doesn’t respect industry boundaries — and tackling it effectively means working across them. Today we’re announcing a new capability being trialled with Aussie banks, including ANZ, NAB and Westpac, and spearheaded by #QuantiumTelstra, which combines telco-derived insights with the bank’s own intelligence to help detect suspected money mule activity earlier. Early testing shows this cross industry approach has the potential to bring forward detection significantly — in some cases by up to 90 days — making it harder for criminals to exploit gaps between organisations. This proof of concept reinforces an important principle: sharing intelligence across sectors creates a multiplier effect. When insights are pooled, blind spots reduce and defences become stronger and more adaptive. While this trial has been built on Telstra’s network, our ambition is broader. The more telcos involved, the more effective this kind of solution can become — and we welcome partnering across the telco-sector to help protect even more Aussies. For 80 years, Telstra have connected and supported the Good Friday Appeal Phone Room, joining donors with volunteers to make donations and raise millions for The Royal Children's Hospital 📞💚 The iconic phone room is built, in operation, and dismantled all within 24 hours. Calls are delivered via the Telstra Enterprise network to a web-based platform, removing the need to set up physical infrastructure. Volunteers use a laptop to log in to the user-friendly Telstra Genesys Cloud software, and can start taking donations straight away. In 2025, over 7,000 calls were taken in the phone room, raising over $1.2 million. Real time reporting from the software allows the Good Friday Appeal to track calls and donations more efficiently.
