  • The Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) is scheduled to open for flights in October 2026. Designed to accommodate domestic, international, and cargo flights, the ground-breaking infrastructure project has involved the Racktech team since its inception in 2022, with deliveries of Racktech iQS Series internal cabinets and IP Series external cabinets commencing in 2024. Racktech supplied a significant number of customised iQS Series internal cabinets and IP Series external cabinets across the airport precinct, supporting terminal facilities, base buildings, and other outdoor airport infrastructure. Racktech iQS Series cabinets were supplied fully customised with Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and accessories, providing a complete solution under a single allocated part number for simplified project management and delivery. The Racktech IP Series cabinets were custom designed with a double-skin exterior construction and specialised fan units installed to minimise extreme heat conditions around external base buildings and other outdoor airport areas. Racktech 24RU and 45RU IP Series cabinets were supplied in several colours to distinguish the various airport departments and comply with the project’s cabling guidelines. The Racktech team participated in extensive consultative meetings, providing customised design solutions, engineered drawings, responsive product support, and the capability to successfully deliver to the required project specifications. Racktech’s Western Sydney manufacturing facility at Glendenning, together with collaborative partnerships with MDE Electrical, Rexel Alexandria and other electrical contractors, helped provide the WSI airport construction team with a streamlined project delivery solution. • On this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work, PLP Australia expanded on last year’s presentation by focusing on the impact workplace incidents have not only on workers, but also on families, friends, and co-workers. PLP invited Michelle Rath from CNB Safe to share a mother’s perspective on the devastating loss of her youngest son, Alex, who died in a workplace incident while working as a refrigeration and air conditioning apprentice. Michelle delivered a heartfelt and moving presentation about the lasting impact of Alex’s loss, and how his absence is felt most deeply during birthdays, family celebrations, and special occasions. Her story was a powerful reminder that workplace safety extends far beyond the job site. Michelle’s final remarks reminded us that “Safety isn't just a policy or a checklist. It's a choice. A choice we make every day, in every moment, for ourselves and for those who count on us.” Data from Safe Work Australia shows an average of 191 worker fatalities each year over the past five years, with 30 workers already losing their lives this year due to workplace incidents. Machinery operators and drivers recorded the highest proportion of fatalities, while more than 90% were male. These figures are a sobering reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, work colleagues, and a community. World Day for Safety and Health at Work promotes awareness and encourages everyone to consider and implement meaningful workplace health and safety improvements. Behind every workplace statistic is a family waiting for someone to come home. https://plp.com/au/ https://cnbsafe.com.au/ #WorldWHSDay2026 #SafeDay2026

  • Recently, a group of 22 Year 10 students, accompanied by their teacher, Rob Lewi, from CathWest Innovation College visited PLP’s manufacturing facility in Glendenning, NSW. The students watched a presentation outlining PLP’s manufacturing operations and processes, followed by a video about the company’s involvement in a major Australian energy infrastructure project, Project EnergyConnect (PEC). Afterwards, the students were divided into smaller groups and taken on a guided tour of the facility, where they explored various production areas and gained insight into the different stages of manufacturing. The students followed the production process of a steel phone holder from fabrication through to completion. Each student received a phone holder as a memento of their visit. CathWest Innovation College provides trade induction courses focused on practical skills and industry-recognised qualifications. The team at PLP is proud to support programs that bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce and hopes the visit inspired students to consider future opportunities in the manufacturing industry. www.plp.com/au #PLPAustralia #Australianmanufacturing #CathWestInnovation #TradePathways
