Here is a sneak peek of Florent, who lives in our Kingsbury Villa, sharing his story and giving us a glimpse into his journey. We believe SDA is more than just a house. We are excited to share a new video series featuring some of our residents living in Paramount homes, where they share their life stories, experiences, and what home means to them. These stories remind us why Specialist Disability Accommodation matters. It is not just about bricks, walls, and accessibility features. It is about people, dignity, choice, and creating homes that help transform lives. Stay tuned for the full series.

Last month, we welcomed 19 happy residents into new housing. Each move is important, because every transition represents a person finding a home that better suits their needs, goals, and future. One of those residents was Catherine, who recently moved into a villa-style home of her own. Seeing how happy she was on move-in day was a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much. Although Catherine’s SDA approval was initially for a house, we were still able to support her move into a villa-style setting on her own. This is part of the work we do in helping residents access better housing outcomes while also supporting the process of seeking an SDA uplift for more appropriate long-term funding. For Catherine, this was not just about moving into a new property. It was about having greater privacy, more independence while not having to worry about her SDA funding not being enough.

We’re releasing our free SDA Design Guide for better HPS homes in two weeks. We wanted to hear directly from the people who support participants in High Physical Support (HPS) homes every day. What's working in these homes? What isn't? What would they change? So we sat down with some of our residents and five leading support providers (genU, Scope (Aust), Aruma, CareChoice, and Life Without Barriers) to find out. The feedback was clear: the official SDA Design Standard sets a baseline, but it doesn't go far enough for HPS housing. Participants and support staff were telling us about non-adjustable stovetops, inadequate kitchen space, inaccessible taps, and insufficient bedroom storage. These are the details that shape someone's daily experience. In two weeks, we're releasing a free 46-page guideline showing the difference between homes that meet standards and homes that work for daily living. It includes do/don't photo comparisons for kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and the details the official standard doesn't cover. Browse the preview images for examples of common mistakes and better approaches. It's free, and it's for the entire sector. Follow for the release in two weeks. paramounthomes.com.au (03) 9999 7418 admin@paramounthomes.com.au

Meet Lucas — one of our incredible residents at Paramount Disability Homes. Before his accident, Lucas worked as a carpenter, building homes with his own hands. After acquiring his disability, he rebuilt his future in a different way: he discovered a passion for coding. When Lucas moved into our West Melbourne SDA apartments, he told us one thing he truly wanted to feel at home: “I need a good computer.” So we made it happen. Today, Lucas is thriving — not just because he has the tools he needs, but because he’s finally close to the people who matter most. His friendship circle all live within 5km of his new home, something he never had access to before. Lucas told us that moving into our apartments was a life-changing moment. Hearing stories like his is exactly why we do what we do at Paramount Disability Homes. Creating environments where independence, community, and meaningful moments can flourish — that’s our purpose.
