Lunchtime today was interesting as I was fortunate to attend the Queensland Futures Institute, Queensland Finance Summit 2026 in Brisbane. Admittedly, the financial services market is not an area that I have personally spent as much time in as many others, so it was genuinely insightful and valuable to connect more in the forum. A few key takeaways from a myriad of high-profile speakers covering a broad range of topics: 📈 Queensland Government Treasurer Hon David Janetzki continued to talk to a topic that I’ve seen/heard him highlight in other forums…that the financial services market in Queensland is growing, creating an environment where Queensland can both retain and attract top level talent that may once have felt the need to move the southern states to further their careers. 💸 Queensland Treasury Corporation CEO Simon Ling highlighted the increasingly attractive proposition of Queensland as a market for international investment. ⚡️ Kylie Rampa, CEO of QIC made particular note of our significant infrastructure pipeline, most notably the investment opportunities across our transforming energy sector…this is an area that our team at Davidson is seeing huge momentum in (both in energy and infrastructure more broadly). 🇦🇺 The Australian superannuation market is on course to become the second largest pension market in the world in the next 5 years…both Kate Farrar of Brighter Super and Kathy Vincent of Australian Retirement Trust spoke to this growth and the partnerships being deepened across their partnerships which create enormous opportunities for investment in markets such as critical infrastructure which fuel the broader economy of the state. 🏅And of course it wouldn’t be a Brisbane event without some mention of 2032! But today’s discussions didn’t centre around the sport and the fanfare. Nor did they centre around the new assets and venues that will host events during and beyond the games. Instead, it was around our attractiveness as a region worth investing in and the opportunity for broader economic growth that the world-stage brings! Great to get out with Bruce Davidson and thanks to Martin R. for having us along! Emma Wallace Kelly Lorentz Karen Ireland Neil M. Ashleigh Stewart Ineke McMahon GAICD

The water sector is entering its next phase of reform. With the Productivity Commission inquiry underway, governance, policy and regulation are once again in focus. These themes are front and centre at Ozwater’26, particularly around leadership in governance and progressive regulation. At the same time, the Water Gauge 2026 highlights a clear capability challenge: 🔶 64% of leaders cite leadership capability gaps as their most urgent workforce issue. As capital delivery, climate resilience and community expectations converge, governance capability will determine how effectively organisations respond. 💧 We’ll be at the Australian Water Association's #Ozwater26 next week and look forward to the discussion. Last night we hosted our first Beyond Now: Building your HR Career event at Davidson, Brisbane. Created and hosted by Catherine Lyttle MAHRI APRCSA, Beyond Now was designed to create practical, honest conversations for early career HR professionals navigating the next stage of their careers. The evening brought together an engaged room of emerging HR talent for a practical and insightful discussion about what really helps build a strong HR career. A huge thank you to our panel; Carol Emmonds, Jenna Barnes, Bec Murphy, and Josh Campbell, for sharing such generous, real world insight across career progression, building credibility, saying yes to opportunities, finding mentors and sponsors, understanding the business, and the importance of networks and ongoing learning. Some of the key messages from the night included: • Say yes to opportunities and be a sponge • Get close to the business and understand how it operates • Build relationships before you need them • Find mentors and sponsors • Invest in your own development • Use LinkedIn intentionally and professionally • Be proactive in career conversations with your leaders Thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed questions and helped create such a warm and energised evening. #Ozwater26 is fast approaching. This year’s theme, “Our Water. Our Tomorrow.”, reflects a clear shift across the sector. Water is not just a resource. It is a shared responsibility shaping communities, economies and environments. Across the organisations we work with, the conversation is evolving. The focus is moving beyond infrastructure delivery alone to how leadership, workforce and digital capability enable resilient, sustainable outcomes, as consistently highlighted through our Water Gauge 2026 research. Ozwater’26 brings these themes together across communities, operations, governance and culture. We’re looking forward to contributing to the conversation and connecting with peers across the sector. If you’re attending, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect. 💥 We’re now just a few days out from Beyond Now and I am so excited about this event💥 Over the past few months, I’ve had so many conversations with HR professionals who are early in their career, asking the same questions: 👉 How do I actually get noticed? 👉 What should I be focusing on right now? 👉 What do I need to add to my experience to get to the next step? 👉 What should I be talking to my manager about in my development conversations? That’s exactly why I created Beyond Now - a practical, honest conversation about building a strong HR career, with leaders who’ve done it themselves. We’ve had a fantastic response so far and while there are still a few spots remaining, secure your spot now so that you don't miss out - we'd love you to join us. Event details: 📍 Davidson, Level 12, 240 Queen Street, Brisbane 🗓 Thursday 14 May 🕠 5:30pm arrival | 6:15pm panel + Q&A 🍷 An evening session with an opportunity to network with your Brisbane HR community - before speakers commencing at 6.15pm 👉 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gBB8Dd3K Michael, Jenny, Renee, Taylah, Britt & George #HRcareers #PeopleandCulture #BrisbaneHR #EarlyCareers #HRCommunity
